The Calm before The Storm:
Human Interaction with the Natural Landscape
January 30 through May 6, 2012
Knight Gallery
Opening reception: Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6 to 9pm
In 1975, New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape focused on the intervention of industry—land directly and indirectly transformed by human presence. The Calm before The Storm asks if this precarious relationship has gotten better, is at a standstill, or gotten much worse? The exhibition features Camille Seaman, Eric Tomberlin, Kathleen Robbins and Pipo Nguyen-duy.

Connecting students on the environment through photography and poetry
January 19 – May 13, 2012
Middleton McMillan Gallery
Opening reception: Thursday, Feb. 9 from 6 to 8pm
The Light Factory empowered students from Garinger, Olympic and Hough High Schools to create powerful photographic art and poetry about the environment. We took them on a journey where they tested water quality, saw a landfill, and worked together. Be inspired by their collaboration.
